I have some old backups from a disk which had some major problems in the past. It has a disk label of “xio” which does not match the actual disk name. Is there a way to change this? Thanks.

I would say you have to try all the Linux’s filesystem tools (as they are most probably in the partition table too) and try to recover the data (you probably can’t).
